School crossing guards being recognized through art

It’s Crossing Guard Appreciation Week from June 2 to 6, and to celebrate, the Town of Caledon is promoting a drawing contest.

The Ontario Traffic Council School Crossing Programs Committee is holding a province-wide competition to celebrate the important role crossing guards play in the safety of children.
“We encourage your school to participate and help us spread the word among students. Let’s join hands to appreciate our school crossing guards and showcase the artistic talents within our community,” said a release from the organization.
Children ages four to 14 years are encouraged to express their gratitude and appreciation for crossing guards through art. The winning drawings will be featured on thank you cards distributed during School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week.
Each child may submit one drawing and submissions should be emailed to [email protected] along with the child’s first name, age, school, municipality, and contact information.
The contest is open until March 31 and more information is available at https://www.caledon.ca/en/town-services/crossing-guard-program.aspx.
