The Elementary Teacher’s Federation of Ontario says it’s raising the alarm on the province’s failing special education system.
The ETFO says students are being left behind because of government neglect.
At a media conference in Toronto on Tuesday, the ETFO says it will release its latest position paper which they say exposes the dark history, broken policy, and chronic provincial underfunding that results in a lack of early intervention, limited resources and supports, and other systemic barriers.
Officials say the media conference will deliver a clear call for action for the Ontario government to immediately address this urgent issue.
It’s scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. and can be watched on the ETFO’s YouTube channel.
The ETFO represents approximately 83,000 members, including public elementary teachers, occasional teachers, designated early childhood educators, education support personnel, and professional support personnel.
