Town hires new public works boss

Scott Holmes will assume the role as the Director of Public Works in Caledon, effective March 4.

A press release from the town said he has over 28 years of experience in the municipal sector and has been instrumental in implementing and directing key programs and services.

Holmes’ last role was at the City of Mississauga, where he was in charge of the administration and supervision of city works yards, signs and pavements, maintenance and operations.

“I am pleased to welcome Scott to our team,” said Domenica D’Amico, Commissioner of Engineering, Public Works and Transportation. “I am confident that Scott will lead our public works department effectively and continue our legacy of providing safe, reliable, high-quality services to our community. This work becomes even more critical as we plan for the town’s significant growth and his extensive experience makes him a great asset to our team.”

As director of public works, Holmes will provide leadership and direction related to maintenance and operations of parks, roads, fleet and forestry for existing and new municipal infrastructure.

“I am excited to join the Town of Caledon at such a crucial time. It feels like a full circle moment for me as I started my municipal career with the town,” said Holmes. “(It) is growing rapidly and is well positioned to achieve its growth target of 300,000 residents by 2051 and I am glad to be part of that growth and contribute to its success,” he added.
