It’s Caledon Day tomorrow!
The town of Caledon is hosting the annual event at the Caledon East Community Complex which runs from 2 to 10 p.m.
This year’s event marks the 15th time it has been held and Jessica Vergis-Mayo said it just keeps getting bigger every year. She added there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
“A big feature is our Tim Horton’s community zone which will be open from 2 to 8 p.m. We have a community stage featuring nine local acts from the area, so lots of local entertainment for everyone. There will also be a lot of activities including inflatables, Caledon archers here doing an archery activation, and we will have a number of games.”
She added there will also be a vendor’s market featuring local businesses.
“We have over 90 joining us this year and we are also bringing back the touch a truck zone. We have vehicles from Caledon public works and fire department and James Dick Aggregates is bringing a truck.”
Headlining the festivities is Montreal’s acclaimed Sam Roberts Band, a multi-platinum album-selling and six-time Juno Award-winning group set to grace Caledon with their unique rock melodies to entertain residents.
“They will be taking the stage at 8:30 p.m. playing until about 9:45 and its always tradition to close off Caledon Day with fireworks which will end around 10 p.m., added Vergis-Mayo.
Admission is free however there are many food and alcohol vendors on site for those thirsty or hungry.
“There are plenty of food trucks for lunch and dinner and we also have our Cheers Caledon Zone that features six local breweries and cideries, some of the best in Ontario. We are also celebrating our 50th anniversary as a town so we will have lots of activations on site highlighting that.”
Nikita Mystery, a local artist, will also be on site with a large paint by numbers board where community members can contribute to the painting. It illustrates several areas of the town and will be placed in the town at a later date once completed.
Shuttle buses will be available at Southfields Community Center and the Caledon Center for Recreation and Wellness. They will run from 2 until 11 p.m. More information is available at https://www.caledon.ca/en/living-here/caledon-day.aspx.
