Residents of Caledon and the rest of Peel Region can take advantage of the spring garbage exemption day to dispose of acceptable items with no tag.
People living in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga can put out unlimited amounts of acceptable garbage on the curb to be picked up with no tags required.
To find out which day is your exemption day, you need to put your address into the region’s online collection calendar. It will be on your regular garbage day from June 10 to 21, not a recycling collection day.
It’s also important to note that collectors might empty your cart and pick up excess garbage at different times during the day. Leave your garbage cart and excess garbage at the curb until 8 p.m. If neither are collected by then, report waste not picked up.
Acceptable garbage includes aluminum foil, bread and milk tags, pet waste, absorbent pads from meat trays, diapers and plastic cereal and cracker box liners.
Residents are asked to put smaller garbage items in garbage bags and larger items separately on the curb.
