The Town of Caledon is reminding residents that private fireworks sales and use are illegal.
By-law number 2022-022 regulates and prohibits the sale and discharge of fireworks in Caledon. It was passed in April of 2022.
MyBoltonNow reached out to the town to find out how they would be enforcing the rules on the Victoria Day long weekend.
“Caledon’s municipal law enforcement team will be monitoring over the weekend for fireworks violations. Any person who violates the fireworks by-law is guilty of an offence and subject to a fine up to $615 which may progressively increase,” according to a statement.
Residents are encouraged to report the illegal use of fireworks by calling 311 or visiting www.Caledon.ca/reportaproblem.
The statement went on to say fireworks displays require a permit and a licensed technician to manage them.
