The City of Brampton and the Town of Caledon are working to establish a partnership for the joint delivery of waste collection services.
The change is set to take effect on Jan. 1, 2026 and aims to streamline operations and enhance service delivery at the local level.
A joint press release says it will ensure current service levels are maintained while safeguarding long-term cost-efficiency, stability and service continuity for both municipalities.
“I can assure Caledon residents that their curbside collection will continue as it does today. We will partner with the City of Brampton on a service contract to collect waste from our residents when the regional waste contract expires in Sept. 2027,” said Mayor Annette Groves.
Staff from the Region of Peel, cities of Brampton and Mississauga and Town of Caledon will form a working group to begin coordinated planning.
The collaborative approach will ensure all parties are aligned on financial planning, service levels and operational logistics, while minimizing impact to residents.
Residents can continue to follow their weekly waste collection schedule, guidelines and by-laws.
