Two people charged after allegedly lying to police

Ontario Provincial Police in Caledon have laid charges in connection with a false carjacking report.

Police responded to an alleged carjacking on Mayfield Road, east of Mississauga Road on Jan. 9 and the Caledon OPP Major Crime Unit was called in to investigate.

A 28-year-old from Georgetown faces charges of public mischief, obstructing a peace officer and fraud over $5,000. A 22-year-old, also from Georgetown, has been charged with public mischief and obstructing a peace officer. Both are scheduled to make their first court appearance on March 6.
