A major winter weather event is expected to reach Caledon (Wednesday) this afternoon.
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning which includes potential snowfall amounts of 20 to 40 centimetres expected.
The threat begins in the evening and could last until Thursday afternoon. The nation’s forecaster is advising residents to avoid travel if possible.
“If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone,” said the warning.
Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
