David Nairn is stepping down from his role with Theatre Orangeville after the 2024-2025 season. In a news release, the organization’s board announced he left the role on Monday.
Nairn has directed more than 90 productions for the organization and has built relationships with local groups such as Community Living Dufferin and Credit Valley Conservation which has allowed Theatre Orangeville to expand and strengthen its programming.
“David has led the company with unwavering commitment for the past 25 years,” said Randall Ugolini, president of Theatre Orangeville’s board of directors. “Under David’s visionary leadership, Theatre Orangeville has evolved from a small summer theatre into a flourishing multidimensional professional regional theatre that has become the cornerstone of the local arts and culture scene.”
“Although he would never admit it, he’s been pivotal in putting Theatre Orangeville on the map and keeping us front and center in the community,” added Ugolini.
Nairn will remain on staff as a part-time artistic director to mentor the incoming person and continue to advocate for the arts within the community.
“As we are stepping into the sunshine of a new tomorrow, one dedicated to the re-enchantment of our community, our patrons, our volunteers, our artists and, perhaps most importantly, ourselves, I know in my heart that it’s time for me to move on,” said Nairn.
“My decision to move on has not been an easy one to make, but I believe with all my heart and soul that we have the perfect dream team in place for moving forward successfully,” he explained.
