Caledon Fire and Emergency Services are gearing up for their annual recruitment drive to hire volunteer firefighters.
To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18-years-old, have a valid G driver’s licence with no more than three demerit points, live within 8 km of a Caledon Fire Station, and have a clean vulnerable sector check.
“Being a volunteer firefighter turns regular people into everyday heroes” said Fire Chief Dave Pelayo.
“Caledon’s volunteer firefighters join a team of dedicated individuals who come from all sorts of backgrounds but have one thing in common: a commitment to helping keep their community safe. If you’re curious about your future as a volunteer firefighter, please attend an information session. We would love to speak with you!”
Anyone interested must register and attend one of three mandatory information sessions:
- Thursday, June 13 at 10 a.m. at Caledon East Community Complex – 6215 Old Church Road
- Wednesday, June 26 at 7 p.m. at Albion Bolton Community Centre – 150 Queen Street South
- Wednesday, July 10 at 7 p.m. at Caledon East Community Complex – 6215 Old Church Road
As a volunteer firefighter, you are expected to respond to both emergency and non-emergency situations, including fires, medical emergencies, alarm activations and investigations and public calls that require assistance
Volunteer firefighters are compensated for their time responding to a call.
