The Town of Caledon is asking for nominations for the 2025 class of inductees into the Caledon Sport Hall of Fame. Whether as athletes, builders, or teams, these nominees represent the epitome of dedication and excellence.
Jason Schildroth is the town’s manager of recreation and culture and said the hall is an important part of the community but more importantly a way to bring neighbourhoods together.
“That’s what community sports does. It teaches people life skills, gets them out and active, and increases individual and community health and well-being. It’s a way for us to recognize the contribution that sport has on what we call in Caledon our community livability and our community culture.”
He added athletes from the town have been making impacts on the provincial, national and international stages for years and the hall is an important way to show pride in them.
Nominations can be made for three categories – athlete, builder and team. Nominees for all categories must have been born in Caledon, maintained residency here for a minimum of five consecutive years, or been raised or spent their formative years in town.
“Earlier this year we had the pleasure of inducting nine worthy inductees to the Caledon Sport Hall of Fame during our first annual Hall of Fame ceremony,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “We are excited to see who is nominated this year and who will be considered for the 2025 class of inductees. Be sure to nominate someone or a team who has made an impact in our sporting community.”
Nominations close on Friday, June 21. To submit a nomination today please visit Caledon.ca/CSHOF.
The Caledon Sport Hall of Fame was established in 2018. The hall was created as a place to recognize, memorialize, and celebrate the accomplishments of Caledon athletes, builders and teams, living or passed on, who have excelled at the community, provincial, national and international levels. It has a dedicated space on the second floor of the Caledon East Community Complex.
